2022 AUTUMN CLASSIC (SPONSORED BY DICK LOVETT) SET TO TURN BACK THE CLOCK AT COMBE
Castle Combe Circuit’s much-loved Autumn Classic historic race meeting is set to descend on the Wiltshire venue on Saturday, 24 September, bringing with it its usual array of white-knuckle vintage car racing, historic car club stands and other fascinating paddock attractions.
This year’s event will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first ever appearance of a competitive Porsche on British soil, in the form of Mr Claude Bannister’s Porsche 356 which made an appearance during a race meeting back in 1952. You can read the full back-story of this remarkable event by clicking here.
As well as special displays in the paddock commemorating this milestone, local car dealership powerhouse (and main sponsor for this year’s event) Dick Lovett will also be on-hand with its Porsche hospitality centre to add to the Porsche-themed celebrations.
The firm will bring a number of Porsches throughout history, including a 356 – similar to that driven by Claude Bannister – as well as an iconic 911 Club Sport (raced by Peter Lovett at the circuit in 1988). Be sure to check this stunning feature out if you’re attending.
Elsewhere in the scenic paddock areas, expect hundreds of stunning historic club cars to be on display thanks to countless dedicated car clubs that will have made the pilgrimage for the event.
There will also be a live jazz band and a number of other classically-themed features for you to check out. Remember to dress in a period outfit to really add to the atmosphere!
On the 1.85-mile circuit itself, you won’t be surprised to hear that the day will be jam-packed with an endless stream of spectacular historic racing across various series. Please check out the official programme (available on site) for the full timetable.
