BRITISH RALLY CHAMP JIMMY MCRAE RETURNS FOR RALLYDAY 2023
Driving legend Jimmy McRae has confirmed his attendance at 2023’s instalment of Castle Combe Circuit’s Rallyday show, set to be held at the Wiltshire venue on Saturday, 1 July.
The Scottish star will need little introduction to any self-proclaimed petrolhead, with no less than five British Rally Championship titles under his belt, as well as being a member of one of the most famous families in the history of world rallying.
A Rallyday regular, McRae has used previous instalments of the event as an excuse to dust off and drive some extremely historic competitive metal, creating an unforgettable spectacle for the thousands of onlookers in the process. 2023’s star cars are yet to be announced, but you can expect Jimmy to be getting behind the wheel of something suitably significant at least once throughout the day.
Jimmy started his motorsport career on motorcycles and trial bikes. At the age of 31, with three young boys to look after, his wife Margaret thought he would be safer on four wheels. Little did she know what this suggestion would lead to!
Jimmy won the British Rally Championship five times in the ‘80s. His eldest son, Colin, was the first and youngest British World Rally Champion, while Alister won the Asia Pacific Rally Championship. McRae’s grandson, Max, is currently competing in the 2023 European Rally Championship.
– Rallyday has acted as one of Europe’s premier rally car shows for over two decades. Combining white-knuckle action out on the 1.85-mile circuit with a host of stars and cars in the paddock, it’s one event that rallying fans don’t want to miss.
