HOWARD’S DAY HERALDS THE START OF 2023 CASTLE COMBE RACING ACTION
With a full day’s racing and a huge variety of cars on track, the first Castle Combe race meeting of the year will be big on action and entertainment.
Following on from last weekend’s first event of the year – the Infinity Exhausts Spring Action Day – Castle Combe is delighted to welcome competitors and motorsport fans back though its gates for the first motor racing meeting of the 2023 season – Howard’s Day.
The now traditional opener to the car racing year at the Wiltshire race circuit takes place on Easter Monday – April 10th – and will see a full race programme, as all of the 2023 Castle Combe Racing Club categories kick off their 2023 Championships.
The event is named after Howard Strawford, the man who ran Castle Combe circuit for almost 40 years, until his passing in 2013. A decade later the circuit continues to flourish and the Castle Combe Racing Club, which Howard created in 2006, is once again looking forward to busy grids of cars throughout the season.
Howard’s Day will see action from a huge variety of different machinery – from single seater formula cars, through saloons to GTs – including the Castle Combe Racing Club’s
Formula Ford 1600, Saloon Car, GT, and Hot Hatch Championships. In addition, the Welsh Racing Drivers Association with Avon Tyres and Image Wheels, will stage two Intermarque Silhouette races and the Classic & Modern Motorsport Club will present two Saloon and Supersaloon races, sponsored by Caesar Electrical.
This all adds up to a fantastic variety of cars all duelling it out on track and, with no less than twelve races over the course of the day, the Howard’s Day meeting is sure to be an excellent, action-packed day out.
Qualifying will take place during the morning from 8.30 in the morning and the race is scheduled to start at 11.20. The racing will run up to almost 6.00pm and at £25, with under 16s going free, when accompanied by an adult, on race day, at the circuit, Howard’s day represents a really good value day out.
