PERFORMANCE GERMAN DAY 2023 WOWS CROWDS ONCE AGAIN
On Saturday 13 May, the UK’s premier German car event – Performance German Day (PGD) – rolled into Castle Combe Circuit. Now in its third year, PGD, proudly sponsored by Awesome, brought together some of the finest German performance cars in the UK.
Although things got off to a rather chilly start, by lunchtime things had warmed up nicely and the jackets and hoodies were swapped for t-shirts and shades.
With a full day of track action ahead, the crowds were treated to lots of fast cars being put through their paces on the exciting 1.85-mile circuit. This included the Autoworks crew notching up an incredible 70 passenger rides between them. With the proceeds going to charity it was another fantastic effort from Dale and Jason in their track-spec M3s.
This year, the drift squad pulled out all of the stops by bringing 17 cars to entertain the crowds. A range of BMWs, and even a RWD-converted Golf treated show goers three, thrilling displays of smokin’ sideways action.
With hundreds of stunning German cars on display, including a huge number of C8 RS6s, choosing the Car of the Show wasn’t easy. But in the end the judges selected the 1400bhp twin-turbo R8, owned by Alex Collins from QS Tuning. The Club of the Show award went to the RSOC, who, once again pulled in a huge number of performance Audis.
The Show and Shine, sponsored by Bristol Detailing Supplies, attracted a wide range of cars, so the judges had their work cut out here too. After much deliberation, third place went to Lee Billing and his Silverstone Blue E46 M3. Second place went to Matt Vanstone and his Audi RS4 B8 and the first place trophy went to Tony Nelson and his stunning Audi TTS.
A big thank you to all of the traders who supported the event, especially our headline sponsors, Awesome, for putting on such a great display of cars. Thanks also to all of the clubs and individual display cars that made a huge effort on the day.
