COOPER LEADS THE FF1600 CHAMPIONSHIP

MidsummerMania2682

The CCRC FF1600 Championship heads into its final meeting with Luke Cooper leading the standings.

Cooper has once again been at the front of the Castle Combe Formula Ford field, taking five wins so far this season and building a points advantage over Nathan Ward and Sam Skellett.

The reigning champion also made history at Midsummer Mania, taking his 34th Castle Combe Formula Ford victory to move clear of Ed Moore’s long-standing record for the most wins in the category.

Ward and Skellett have remained close behind, while Alicia Hamlen has also enjoyed another strong season at the front of the field.

The FF1600 race scheduled for Midsummer Mania was cancelled following a late-day incident, leaving two races at Champions’ Coronation for the drivers to finish the season.

WEBBER LEADS HOT HATCH CHAMPIONSHIP

The Nankang Tyre UK Hot Hatch Championship has once again produced some of the closest racing on the Castle Combe calendar, with a large and competitive field battling throughout the season.

Corey Webber has led the way in his Honda Civic EP3, winning every championship round he contested before reliability problems ended his run at the HSCC Summer Historic Festival.

Webber was then forced to withdraw from Midsummer Mania with a suspected engine issue, giving the chasing drivers the chance to close the gap.

Julian Fisher, Justin Holloway, Tim Fooks-Bale and Mark Wyatt have all been in contention throughout the season, with the final two rounds giving the field one last chance to challenge Webber and settle the championship positions.

SALOON CARS HEAD INTO FINAL TWO ROUNDS

The South Cerney Engineering Saloon Car Championship has continued to showcase the variety of machinery that competes at Castle Combe.

The 2026 field has featured SEATs, Peugeots, Volkswagens, Hondas, Vauxhalls and other machinery, with the different cars producing close racing throughout the season.

Midsummer Mania was an eventful meeting for the championship.

Will Di Claudio qualified fastest of the Saloon runners in his Peugeot 106 and made a strong start, briefly running ahead of the GT machinery.

Former champion Adam Prebble suffered a major qualifying accident at Quarry, while Bill Brockbank’s SEAT Leon failed to make the race following a turbo issue.

With two races still to come, the Saloon Car drivers will return to Castle Combe for the final time this season at Champions’ Coronation.

SCARAMANGA ALREADY CROWNED GT CHAMPION

MidsummerMania2685

While the final two rounds will settle the remaining CCRC championship battles, the Avon Tuning GT Championship already has its 2026 champion.

Avon Tuning-sponsored driver Dave Scaramanga secured the title at Midsummer Mania after finishing second behind Keith Butcher’s Lamborghini Huracan Evo GT3.

The Ferrari 488 Challenge driver has taken multiple victories throughout the season and secured the championship with one meeting remaining.

Scaramanga will now be looking to add another win to his season, with Butcher and the rest of the GT field returning to Castle Combe for the final two races.
