CLASSIC SPORTS CAR CLUB’S MODERN & RETRO RETURNS TO CASTLE COMBE

Castle Combe will welcome the Classic Sports Car Club for the final race meeting of its 2026 season on Saturday 17 October, as the CSCC Modern & Retro Race Day brings a mix of classic, retro and contemporary racing to the circuit.

The one-day meeting will feature nine CSCC series, with a wide range of machinery taking to the track throughout the day. The CSCC itself describes the event as a lively mix of classic and modern cars, with a nicely spaced timetable providing plenty of racing for spectators.

The meeting will also see the Alpha Lexis Law Firm Jaguar Championship reach its conclusion, with Castle Combe hosting the championship decider. The other races on the programme are the CSCC series, giving the meeting a mixture of championship competition and end-of-season racing.

The CSCC’s previous Modern & Retro visit to Castle Combe took place over two days in August 2025, attracting more than 280 entries plus second drivers. The weekend featured a huge variety of machinery, from classic sports and touring cars through to modern tin-tops, Jaguars and BMWs.

RETRO RACING

Modern Retro 2 1

The retro side of the 2026 meeting will feature the Swinging Sixties, Future Classics, Modern Classics and Jaguar Championship.

From classic sports and touring cars in the Swinging Sixties to later-era machinery in Future Classics and Modern Classics, the four grids will bring cars from different generations to Castle Combe. The Jaguar Championship adds another distinctive element, with a field of Jaguar machinery taking to the circuit.

There is also a championship title to be decided, with Castle Combe hosting the final round of the Alpha Lexis Law Firm Jaguar Championship. With the championship reaching its conclusion at the circuit, the Jaguar grid will provide one of the key competitive storylines of the meeting.

The breadth of the CSCC’s retro racing was also clear during its 2025 visit, which included the Swinging Sixties, Midget & Sprite Challenge, Classic K and Jaguar Championship, alongside a special BMW 3 Series 50th Anniversary race.

That BMW race brought four generations of the 3 Series together and included a grid walk, giving spectators the chance to get closer to the cars and drivers.

MODERN RACING

Modern Retro 3

Alongside the older machinery, the Modern & Retro Race Day will feature five series representing the more contemporary side of the CSCC’s racing: Tin Tops, Puma Cup, Turbo Tin Tops, New Millennium and Slicks.

The Tin Tops, Puma Cup and Turbo Tin Tops bring production-based performance cars to the circuit, with the grids featuring a mixture of hatchbacks, saloons and sports cars. The New Millennium and Slicks Series provide a step up in performance, with a mix of modern sports, touring and GT machinery.

The variety of modern racing was clear during the CSCC’s 2025 visit to Castle Combe. The meeting featured Tin Tops and Puma Cup machinery alongside Turbo Tin Tops, while the Slicks and New Millennium grid combined a wide range of higher-performance cars.

There was even a dedicated sprint race in 2025, bringing the Turbo Tin Tops, Tin Tops and Puma Cup together, with 24 cars competing in the three-way contest.

The 2026 programme will once again feature all five modern series, providing a contrasting line-up alongside the classic machinery elsewhere on the timetable.

A DAY OF CSCC RACING

Modern and Retro 4

This year’s meeting will be a one-day event, following the two-day Modern & Retro weekend held at Castle Combe in 2025, and will bring the CSCC’s 2026 season to a close.

With nine series on the programme, the meeting will offer a varied mix of classic and modern machinery, with racing throughout the day and the Jaguar Championship title set to be decided.

The 2025 event showed just how varied a CSCC meeting at Castle Combe can be, with more than 280 entries, grid walks, live-streamed racing and a special BMW 3 Series anniversary race all forming part of the weekend.

For 2026, spectators can expect another full day of CSCC racing, with access to the main paddock providing the opportunity to get closer to the cars and teams away from the track.

The CSCC has also highlighted its 2025 Castle Combe highlights video as a look back at the previous Modern & Retro meeting.

CSCC Modern & Retro Race Day takes place at Castle Combe Circuit on Saturday 17 October 2026.
