When Rosie, age 18, from Calne started her driving lessons with Pete Lloyd from Julie Murphy's Driving School, little did she know that she would meet the finish line with The 2018 National pupil progress award from the Driving Instructor Association. This award is “a fantastic achievement” said School Owner, Julie Murphy.
“Initially, Rosie found learning very scary even to the point she would stop breathing when approaching roundabouts,” said her instructor, Pete. However, with sheer determination and the support of her instructor not only did she pass her driving test first time but also with ZERO faults. “Her attitude towards learning was delightful to see and for her to be awarded this accolade truly recognises Rosie’s hard work.” said Julie Murphy.
Aiming to produce safe, confident drivers, Julie Murphy’s Driving School partners with Castle Combe Racing Circuit to also offer Startline Young Driver training courses for those aged 12 and over. Not only do students have the opportunity to learn with a fully qualified instructor in a dual controlled car, they also get to drive around a real racing circuit - what fun! The courses help build their confidence and introduce some of the theory of driving in a fun way before they start their on-the-road lessons. “Driving is a life skill that opens up so many opportunities for pupils. Learning the fundamental skills and introducing road safety awareness from a young age will help those initial nerves and improve road safety in the long term,” said Julie Murphy.
Rosie was invited to Castle Combe Race Circuit to receive her award along with a goody bag and voucher presented by Julie Murphy's Driving School.
