The 2020 instalment of Castle Combe Racing Club’s end-of-year Awards Night will be run in a fully digital format from 6pm on Saturday, 28 November, meaning for the first time, everyone is invited to watch the proceedings.
The event – now temporarily dubbed the ‘Virtual Awards Night’ – is always a highly anticipated date on the Castle Combe motorsport calendar, with the key movers and shakers from another year of thrilling motorsport at the Wiltshire venue crowned.
Originally scheduled to be held at the prestigious Aerospace Bristol Concorde Hangar to commemorate the venue’s 70th anniversary, it’s now been scaled-back due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with staff still keen to carry out proceedings in a Covid-Safe manner to give racers and support staff in lockdown an evening to remember.
Hosted by head commentator, Chris Dawes, the event will be live streamed through the circuit’s much-loved ‘Combe TV’ platform on the evening, meaning not only can you watch the action on Castle Combe Circuit’s and the Racing Club’s Facebook pages and the circuit’s YouTube channel for free in real-time, but also submit questions and comments as you watch. The footage will then be permanently saved to the same channels to watch back at your leisure (see below links for further details on how to watch).
Awards will be virtually handed out across the circuit’s various tight-knit championships, including the likes of the EBC Brakes Hot Hatch Challenge, REIS Insurance GTs, Samco Sport Saloons and Premier Financial Planning Formula Fords series. You can also expect both live and pre-recorded interviews on the night from the winners.
To round off the evening, the coveted ‘Perpetual Awards’ will be announced, which include amongst others the prestigious Driver of the Year and Marshal of the Year trophies.
Castle Combe Racing Club’s ‘Virtual Awards Night’ will be live streamed for free from 18:00 on Saturday, 28 November in the following locations:
