With the turbulence of this year’s racing calendar, an opportunity has arisen for a final classic-themed race meeting at Castle Combe Circuit, in the form of the ‘Classic Sports Car Club Race Day’ on Saturday, 24 October.
As the Wiltshire-based Classic Sports Car Club [CSCC] has not attended its 'home circuit' since 2017, this is particularly exciting news for both parties involved. The day will include racing action from no less than eight exciting historic race series, with limited spectator tickets also available to book now.
Series present will include:
- Adams & Page Swinging Sixties
- Mintex Classic K
- Gold Arts Magnificent Sevens
- Co-ordSport Tin Tops
- Motorsports School Turbo Tin Tops
- Advantage Motorsport Future Classics
- Cartek Motorsport Modern Classics
- Verum Builders Open Series (drivers registered for the Liqui Moly New Millennium, Special Saloons & Modsports and Slicks Series are more than welcome to enter this series on suitable tyres)
All races (except the Open/Jaguars) are 40 minutes, featuring a compulsory pit stop allowing one or two drivers to take part. The pit stop is key to a successful race; will there be a safety car and should you start your fastest driver first or second?
The Open Series and Jaguars enjoy 2 x 20 minute races, with a split start, where the first part of the grid start on the lights, with the second on the national flag. The Jaguars run as a championship, but with this round announced late on in the season they will instead run as stand-alone races, a chance for the drivers to let their hair down for the last time in 2020.
With some weeks still to go, over 200 entries have already been received; whether you prefer classic or modern cars you will be happy with the variety and numbers in action.
