MARSHALS TRAINING DAY POSTPONED TO SUNDAY 8TH APRIL DUE TO BAD WEATHER
It’s true to say that without volunteer marshals, we wouldn’t have any form of motorsport.
From working in the pits and the paddock to clearing up debris after an incident, there are a variety of roles at the circuit to suit all levels of experience. The Castle Combe Marshalling team is without doubt one of the finest in the country. Seen in their orange outfits and affectionately known as the 'Orange Army' or unsung heroes of the day!
Where do I fit in, I hear you cry? Well, we are always looking at expanding our team of volunteers and we have trained thousands of people over the years who have thoroughly enjoyed assisting on race days and have gone on to assist at many other major motorsport events across the UK.
Richard Beard, Chief marshal, explains, "Being a part of the Orange Army is something I have enjoyed for many years and one of the most rewarding jobs you can do. People often ask me how to get involved and what types of role could I be doing? Well that's what we have the training day for!"
This year's marshals training day will be held at Castle Combe Circuit on Sunday 4th March. It has been successfully running for many years and is open to everyone. Richard explains, "We have people attend who have marshalled here for a very long time right through to complete beginners. It doesn’t matter your skill set or your background as we are a friendly bunch and will take our time to train each and every one of you."
