It’s already been confirmed that Craig Breen will be driving his own MG Metro 6R4 at Rallyday 2019, with Prodrive also bringing its own example of this iconic hyper-hatch for none other than Jimmy McRae to pilot, but the 6R4 news doesn’t end there…
We can now reveal that a national club dedicated to this much-loved rally car – 6R4.net – will also have a large presence at the event (held on 21 September), in the form of a stand where various examples of this beefed-up Group B Metro will help to celebrate the car’s 35th anniversary in style.
Vehicles already confirmed for 6R4.net’s stand include Nicky Lindon’s prototype mock-up example (one of the first ever made), as well as Jim Leask’s ex-Tony Pond works machine with all manner of history under its belt.
6R4.net was setup by fans Nicky Lindon and Dan Ellmore in 2008 (joined by David Sims in 2019). It is now known as the go-to hub for all things 6R4; helping enthusiasts make ownership a reality by sourcing cars for them, as well as sourcing 6R4s for magazine articles, computer game developers and even Scalextric.
