MINI ACTION DAY 25TH ANNIVERSARY - BIGGEST YET!

The 25th instalment of the Mini Action Day supported by Mini Sport Ltd, saw a record crowd, huge club displays and almost 300 Mini’s take to the track for the lunchtime cruise.

The Sun managed to break through and we were lucky enough to keep the dreaded rain at bay, which meant a perfect day to celebrate not only 25 years of this amazing show but also 50 years of trading for our sponsors Mini Sport.

The Mini Action day is well known for its variety and eclectic mix of classic and Modern MINI and this year did not disappoint. Clubs had travelled from far and wide and the standard of displays was one of the best we had seen. Now firmly establishing itself as the ONLY track based all action show it was one not to be missed.

The track saw parade laps and track time throughout the day culminating in what can only be described as a magnificent site when almost 300 Minis from, clubs, exhibitors and visitors of the day took part in the GIANT cruise. It was no mean feat to get that many cars on the track and the crowds gathered at Camp and Quarry not to miss a single car go past.

We were also indebted to Mini Sport who this year pulled out all the stops and filled a giant marquee with not only budget busting show deals but also their WRC MINI. The MINI took to the track entertaining and thrilling crowds with its unique style and burbling engine tone. And to top off celebrations in style the man himself Paddy Hopkirk was in attendance and never tired of being interviewed or signing those all precious autographs.

We would like to thank all of the clubs that made a huge effort and it is understood that some were badly affected by the closure of the M4. But it didn’t stop them all and we were delighted to announce SOLENT Mini Club as club stand of the show. This was their first win and they were not only shocked but extremely excited to take home the coveted and treasured trophy.

To top off the day we had the difficult task of trying to find car of the show. With so much variety on display from concours winning classics, well fettled modern creations to out and out track weapons, it was never going to be easy. Taking home the car of the show trophy was Jonathan Faulkner from Box Hill Mini Club, with his Mini Minus. This beauty has was not only immaculate on the outside, Jonathan had been tracking the little beast hard all day. It goes to show what a little hard work and love can do for these cars.

All in all the day was a success and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the next 25 years of events.
