Preparations are well underway for the West Country’s biggest motorcycle race meeting which will once again take place with the Castle Combe Grand National being held on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July 2017.

The latest addition to a mouth-watering feast is 23-times TT winner John McGuinness who will be in attendance at the Wiltshire track where he’ll be bringing three of his iconic machines to display, including the 250cc Vimto Honda, the 130mph lap-record setting Honda Fireblade and the exotic Mugen which he took to victory in the TT Zero race in 2015.

Honda Racing team-mate Guy Martin will also be making an appearance at the event alongside 250cc and 500cc World Champion Freddie Spencer whilst TV star Henry Cole will be filming over the weekend as part of one of his popular TV motorcycle programmes. In it, he will ride the Triumph T100 which Mike Hailwood®, along with Dan Shorey, won the Thruxton 500-mile race in 1958 as a ‘Salute to Mike’.

In addition to a packed programme of racing organised by NG Road Racing Club, and featuring a number of major championships, as well as the now traditional Classic and Tribute parades, one of the highlights will be the commemoration of 60 years since the legendary Mike Hailwood® made his debut at the circuit back in 1957.

The organisers have been granted special permission by Mike’s widow Pauline to run some of Hailwood’s iconic machinery at the track where the nine-times World Champion and 14-times TT winner rode in only his second ever meeting and already promised, and taking to the track over the weekend, will be many actual race bikes ridden by ‘Mike the Bike’™.

Other stars already signed up include TT winner Steve Plater and legends Stuart Graham and Rex Butcher with the Ray Petty Trophy amongst the highlights on track. The Parade entries include historic and exotic machinery from the 1950s to the 1970s with marques such as MV, Triumph, Norton, Honda, MZ, Ducati, BSA and Yamaha amongst others.

Admission prices start at £17 per adult with weekend tickets available as well as comping, which must be booked in advance. For further info and to buy tickets, please contact the Circuit on 01249 782417 or via

A full list of bikes and riders will be announced soon but the organisers are keen to hear from any owners of ex-Hailwood machines who would like to display or demonstrate bikes at this historic meeting. To register your interest if you have a genuine ex-Mike Hailwood bike, or of the type raced by Mike, please contact Rodney Gooch on 01249 782417.
