For German car fans, there was only one place to be last Saturday – Castle Combe Circuit for the Performance German Day, 2022!

After a two-year break due to the global pandemic, PGD was back, and with great weather, sold-out track time and huge trade support, we were set for a great day of action.

Our headline sponsors, Awesome, pulled out all the stops with a huge trade stand, which included Racingline, VBT, Performance M and Ultimate Customs. With plenty of giveaways, plus a mouth watering array of tuned demo cars, there was something for everyone. Then at lunchtime, they hosted the Awesome Track Session, with 12 specially invited cars showing what they could do.

Just like our first event, the standard of cars on display was very high. We counted four 1000+bhp twin-turbocharged Audi R8s, several GT3 RS’ and lost count of the number of RS Audis, M-Power BMWs, Golf Rs and AMG Mercedes’. Added to this were some awesome retro rides, plus vans, pickups and, of course, lots of track cars.

For many, the track action was the main draw of the show, and it was great to see such a wide variety of cars making use of the open pit lane format. Crowd favourites included the blue, 1000+bhp twin-turbo Audi R8 from REPerformance, which was absolutely flying, and the hard-charging E30 driven by Ryan Stewart from Regal Autosport.

For those who wanted a taste of the track action without driving their own car, Autoworks Services were on hand to offer high-speed passenger rides in their twin BMW M3s. Dale and Jason did a fantastic job, keeping both cars out all day to raise a hefty £1000 for local charities. Well done guys!

This year the crowds were treated to three drift sessions, with a selection of big-power BMWs tearing up the track. Thanks to Luca, Trig and the rest of the drifters for putting on a fantastic display of all-German smoke machines.

The Bristol Detailing Supplies crew were on hand to judge the Show and Shine, and with an array of immaculately prepared cars, it was a tough call to choose the winners. In the end, first place went to Darrell Allsworth and his stunning Mk7 Golf. Runners up were Matt Powney and his Polo G40, and Geof Williams in his Audi RS3. The Detailer's Choice Award went to Robbie Burchell and his Audi A5 convertible.

Club of the Show went to the RSOC, who brought along a fine selection of performance Audis, and the coveted Car of the Show Award was given to Matt Powney for his stunning VW Polo G40.

Huge thanks to our sponsors, traders, car clubs and everyone else who came along to PGD 2022 – we’re already planning next year’s event!
