Something for everyone at Castle Combe’s hugely popular Summer Action Festival debut

Whether it’s classic Ford Escort rally cars or Liberty Walk-kitted Audi R8s that make you tick, Castle Combe Circuit’s all-new Summer Action Festival, held on 22 July, had it all and more!

A celebration of all makes, models and ages of cars, thousands of vehicle enthusiasts descended onto the Wiltshire circuit to be amazed by the vast array of metal on display.

With over 100 car clubs showcasing an eclectic sea of vehicles – from classic kit cars through to red-blooded modern race machines – the atmosphere in the circuit’s paddocks was nothing short of electric throughout the day. To add to the excitement was a display of classic buses courtesy of the Bristol Vintage Bus company (which proceeded in taking show-goers for rides in and around the circuit) and the ever-popular trade village where plenty of bargain car parts were snapped up by the happy punters.

The fiercely-fought Show and Shine competition played host to a seriously impressive group of show cars, with Keiran Barnett eventually taking the crown in his spotless R32-powered VW Caddy. Second and third places went to Dan Lewis with his ’86 BMW 520i and Kieran Johns in his Saab-powered Corsa B respectively, meaning the winners all shared a suitably retro vibe.

Winning the sought-after Club of the Show award was Stripped & Styled: a club boasting a hugely diverse mix of cars both old and new which the judges thought most suitably reflected the varied atmosphere of the show as a whole. Winning Car of the Show was Adam Price with his extremely impressive wide-bodied 5.0-litre mustang, which sounded just as good as it looked!

The circuit itself was alive with both old and new vehicles throughout the day. As well as modern- and classic-specific public track time slots, the crowd-pleasing drifting demos went down a storm. At lunchtime, the clubs took over the track for the Free Lunchtime Cruise which attracted hundreds of show cars to parade around the circuit – an amazing spectacle which will be hard to beat!
